Hello and welcome to the new Fulbright Association Arkansas Chapter web site.  I am so pleased to be working with Bill McComas (Vice President) and DeDe Long (Treasurer) to grow and strengthen the Arkansas Chapter of the Fulbright Association.  I hope you will join us in the effort to make the Arkansas Chapter an active and exciting organization.

The Fulbright Association is made up of alumni and supporters of the Fulbright Scholarship Program.  We  share the common experience of having developed friendships in nations around the world.  I was fortunate enough to receive two Fulbright grants to teach at three different universities in Seoul, South Korea.  I still have Korean friends from those years.  The Fulbright Program is known as the flagship US government initiative to promote peace and understanding through international educational exchange.

In Arkansas, we have many Fulbright alumni and, during normal times, Fulbright scholars from around the world at our universities.  One of the goals of the Arkansas Fulbright Association Chapter is to connect Fulbright alumni to share experiences with each other and also to connect the alumni with current visiting Fulbrighters from other countries who are studying at universities in our state.

I am thrilled with the Arkansas Fulbright Association Chapter web site.  We will be using this as our main means of communications for Chapter activities and opportunities for Fulbright Association members and current Fulbrighters to meet and interact.

We had plans for several meetings before the COVID-19 Crisis limited the opportunities for in-person meetings.  We are currently shifting some of these initiatives to online activities.  Stay tuned for news about these.

I would also urge you to join the Fulbright Association (https://fulbright.org/membership/) if you have not done so already.  This helps the Arkansas Chapter expand our activities and serve for our members.

Please feel free to contact me if you would like to become more involved in the Fulbright Association or have ideas about activities for our members.
